Happy Hallows Eve & Wednesday Weigh In

Wait. First thing First - STL Blogger Meet up on November 30th. I am SUPER STOKED. I can't wait to meet all you chicks. PUMPED!  Holly posted about it yesterday and I am ALL over it people. So check it out over at "Where We Can Live Like Jack & Sally". I think we tried the 10th, 17th, etc... but November 30th seems to work out PERFECTO. COME ON - it should be a ROCKING good time. I mean, you should want to come no matter WHAT to see Holly's tattoo:)

It is one of my favorite Holidays today!!! YAY!!! I wish I could say I had a Halloween party story for you this year, but I don't. We did the Biebs concert on Saturday, instead. Honestly, this is probably the FIRST Halloween in 8 years I didn't dress up or do SOMETHING - but "meh" the Biebs concerts EPICness would of BLEW anything out of the water.

Elle's joke this year (since she is an angel) - How do angels greet one another?......HALO! BAH.. you can pick yourself off the floor now. kidding.

Wes's joke - Twick o Tweat - yep that is it folks!

Wednesday Weigh In - down 1lb since last week. A loss so that is good.

So I wanted to leave you with a few pics from last year's Halloween Party. My boss throws a phenomenal shindig, and I look forward to it each year. So in honor of today - HAPPY HALLOWEEN Buccaneer Style.

My boss's husband Matt and I
The Halloween dud (Eric) and I (he never dresses up - boo)
Matt, Myself, and Phyliss (my boss's sister) LOVE HER
Eric's little sister (GGW), Myself (Buccaneer Lady), and BFF Melissa (Siren)
Oh yeah.... one more thing - I am running a 5K this weekend on Saturday night called the Glo Run. My BFF Bridget (I am sure you have seen her in a million posts) and I are running it together. It is in Forest Park and starts at 6:30 p.m. It is going to be a TON of fun - glow sticks, glow necklaces, glow in the dark paint. You run through strobe lights, black lights, and at the end is a DJ until 10:00 p.m.- can someone shout "AWESOMENESS" - best part is- it is NOT timed - so just run and have fun:)

Ready to shake my tail feather with one of the coolest chicks I know. I also have kidnapped Bridget for the after party GNO - we are going OUT "Nicki Minaj" style, which equates to a few quite drinks at our friend Beth's house in dog-town, while her baby sleeps in the back bedroom. BAH. We are P.A.R.T.Y. animals.

P.S. - it's the last night to sign up for the GO St. Louis Half Marathon/Marathon/Family Fitness Weekend before the prices go up. AGH!!!!!!!!!! I still have NOT signed up - am I nervous? Why the he** should I be.. JUST DO IT!

P.P.S. - POTM starts tomorrow (November 1st) - let's do this peeps - Packing On The MILES for November. Mondays I will be posting about the prior weeks runs. GET YOUR RUN ON.

In My Top 5

Well it is Tuesday my friends - yippers - and tomorrow is Halloween. I love this Holiday - love it. I will post a few old Halloween pics tomorrow, in honor of the day.

I REALLY had a blast linking up with Aly yesterday, and her "I Wore What" link-up - it was hilarious. If you didn't get chance to check it out - DO, you will be laughing her tushy off. Man.. if any of those outfits ever DO come back - Lord help us all...

I wanted to take this post to explain why October 27th, 2012 will go down in the books as one of my top 5 BEST moments of my life. If you don't know, I took Elle (my oldest/daughter) to see her FIRST concert. We have had these Justin Bieber tickets since June/July(ish) - this was her b-day present back in August - so you can imagine the anticipation as the end of October drew nearer. She asked ALL the time if it was "the day" yet, we have been rocking out to his music hard core for 5 months straight, we have been making up our own dance routines, etc... We have been playing this UP for months so Saturday was the night...

I am going to do this "progression of the evening" in pictures - it really sums it up PERFECTLY.

She asked me to curl her hair and do her nails - right up my ally.
She wanted to be by ME (YAY) the whole day - getting ready.
What do you do in the parking lot - why dance of course.
Strike a Pose girls
Found our seats, grabbed soda, snacks and BEER for us mamas.
Smile girls - Cody Simpson and Carly Rae Jepsen are on now.
Dancing, Singing, and hanging with my bestie Elle.
Countdown to the BIEBS - love the girl in the background.
Anticipation
Wait, Wait, Wait... is that HIM?
AH MA GAH!!!!!! IT IS!!!
Immediately get out in the aisle in dance - don't you know the drill?
Concert Awe
Look REAL close... it's the Biebs. LOL
There you have it - awesomeness in the making.
TIRED girls but so happy
Post-Bieber Morning - woke up late, hair a mess, and needing water - spoken like at TRUE party girl.
Well that pretty much sums it up. We waited in line for 45 minutes, had to kick someone out of our seats, watched Elle dance in front of everyone at the concession stand, had our ears melt off by a thousand screaming girls, watched Dad's continue to drown their boredom in bottomless beers, danced our butts off, swayed our hands back and forth, listened to the girls chomp on pretzels and cotton candy (envious), held my girl tight, watched her scream and smile, felt her grab my hand and hug me, and the best moment of the night... walking back from the bathroom she looked up and smiled and said "This is the BEST night of my life". Yep I cried... THANK YOU Justin Bieber - you... my sweet darling, too pretty to be a boy with your luscious lips - just earned a ranking in my top 5 best moments of my life ~ all because my girl had the BEST NIGHT OF HER LIFE.

If you want a more unbiased (childless) recap of the evening for a 30 year old - check it out HERE - My twitter buddy sent me this link on Sunday and I was DYING - it was so, so, so very true. Next concert - I am going with them:)

NEVER SAY NEVER... LOL

Been to any fun concerts lately - upcoming one's? How do you feel about the Biebs?

I Wore What? Link-up

Happy Monday everyone. I can't wait to share my Bieber concert experience with you all from this past weekend, BUT that will have to wait until tomorrow - because today I am linking up with Aly from Analze This for her "I Wore What?" Link-up party. There are NO words to describe the sickness you are about to experience;)

Yes I look like a geek in that hat - WTF was I thinking (college years)?
Yes Homecoming  1995-1996? Sweet hair, choker, and leg out shot (and the lipstick on the teeth look). DUH!!!
Really, overalls and a pixie cut are never the RIGHT combo. Ugh...
A Galaxy Girl shirt and those metallic shoes - looking good Mel - NOT!
Um.. yeah.. Basketball jersey's, sunglasses, and cat gnawing on the arm - not my finest moment.
Yellow top tucked into acid wash - HELLO... hot mama from the 80's.
Looney Tunes Shirts are a MUST - said NO-ONE EVER!
Well there you have it - I had a TON more but kept it simple to just a few. LOL. Hope you enjoyed my fashion faux-paus. If you want to link up or want to check it out - click the link up button below. It is going to be a rocking good time:)

Oh and a HUGE CONGRATS to ANNIE K who won my "Mel's Favorite Thing's" Give-a-way. YAY. That was so much fun. I can't wait to do it again.

Questions and Winner Sneak Peak

Well hello there on another Saturday morning. I am writing this post on Friday BECAUSE Saturday morning we will be getting our family pictures at Suson Park by the lovely and most talented Kelly at Kelly Reinholz Photography. Kelly has been a friend for a LONG time - since high-school, we went to college together, and now I still get the pleasure of seeing her. She is an AMAZING photographer and always was an "artistic mama" from day one. I absolutely adore her style and she is so laid back and easy going - a TOTAL PLUS when you have to deal with my family. AGH!!!!!!! Craziness... If you are in the St. Louis area or surrounding areas - check her out. If you want to see a few of the Waterkotte photo sessions - check them out HERE and HERE. This will be our 3rd year using her and I can't wait.

Also to keep you up-to-date on my life - because I know you REALLY care - NOT;) I will be taking Elle to see her 1st concert tonight - JUSTIN BIEBER. I am so pumped I could scream and dance Gangnam Style. I am hoping the Biebs makes Elle fall in love with "concert going" the way I did. However, my concerts usually include 80's hair bands (Def Leppard Love), Classic Rock (insert Stevie Nicks my favorite person of ALL TIME), or Alternative music. So here is to a great night with the BIEBS and my baby, baby, baby, oooooooooo yeah,  baby.

FINALLY - my sweet, lovely, beautiful friend Erin had a few questions she asked me from her Liebster Award post - so I wanted to answer them. If you haven't went to Erin's blog before - it is called Homemade Happenings - go check her out. She has TONS of recipes, book recommendations for the kids, fun football stuff, and recently she posted on dreams - this one MIGHT just be why I consider her my bbf. I love dream interpretation and truly believe they MEAN something - so Erin Mwah!! to you. A few of her questions were the same as yesterdays - so I answered the NEW ones. I didn't want to bore the bejingles out of you. Jess from Mommy Mishaps also had a few questions for me as well. Jess is new to the blogging world, so please head on over and show her some love and hopefully she gets as addicted to this blogging thing as I do. Thank you BOTH again for the super sweet nomination.

Erin's Questions:
  1. Which dead celebrity would you like to have supper with? Explain. - Hum... Marilyn Monroe - no explanation needed. Did you do JFK or not, girl - spill the deets on that stud?
  2. What is your one guilty pleasure (talking food)? - Swedish Fish
  3. Turkey or ham sandwich? - Turkey, but I do love me a good ham sammich too.
  4. What color of polish is on your toes right now? - "Miss Fancy Pants" by ESSIE
  5. Would you rather eat 5 cockroaches or lay in a coffin with snakes slithering all over you? - I LOL to this - if you read my "irrational fear" from yesterday you would know I would eat the roaches for SURE.
  6. What is your favorite time of day?  What are you usually doing then? - Morning. I am a morning girl. I get up, run, work-out, and blog before the rest of the house awakes. Pure bliss...
  7. Which perfume do you wear? - I don't wear perfume - my sweat smells fabulous...  I do own a bottle and it is Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. The ONLY kind I would ever wear.
  8. Describe the perfect vacation. - White sandy beach, with the family on a semi-secluded island, with a nanny in tow. He (the nanny, of course he is male, he is MY nanny) entertains the kids for a bit while E and I frolic in the water while drinking our fruity drinks. All of the family meets up for afternoon fun, dinner, and dancing. Then E and I (and maybe the nanny - hahaha - kidding - he is watching the kids) sit out on the beach at night and drink champagne, listen to the waves, and actually have an ADULT conversation. Heaven.
  9. Flannel or cotton sheets? - Sorry guys I don't like flanel.one.bit - too flippin hot. So cotton all the way.
  10. Who is your favorite singer or group of all time? - Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac) HANDS down. Just like the white winged dove sings a song, sounds like she's singing, eww baby eww -  said eww. I want to wear flowly sleeves and have that voice. Love her.

Stevie Nicks - Gorgeous

Jess's Questions:
What is the stupidest thing you have ever done and what was the outcome? -  Great question and honestly I have done a TON of stupid things in my life and they all played out okay because I am very happy with who I am on the inside.
Describe the most beautiful thing you have ever seen? It would have to be my brown eyed babies. Their gorgeous skin, huge smiles, imperfect teeth, big brown eyes, bushy eyebrows, etc... are the MOST beautiful thing to me in the ENTIRE world.
10 years ago, where did you think you would be? Not going to lie... right where I am. I was engaged and hoping for 2 babies, a beautiful home, and a good career. BINGO!
Where do you aspire to be in 10 years from now? I would be right about 42 years old - so Elle would be 15 and Wes 13 ~ let's just say times might be getting rough BUT I hope to be driving these kids around to all their stuff, reading my Naughty Novels on the beach each year in the Hampton's with my girlfriends, and still happily married and "in love". Oh yeah.. and working still but maybe part-time.
Do you hold onto anything you need to let go of - can you share? I would have to say the hardest thing to let go of was the anger I had from the whole "ex" thing. If you haven't read about it you can HERE. It took MANY years for me to forgive him but I have and my life has been so much more pleasant since. I don't hold onto things - I once attended a motivational speaker's seminar hosted by Tammy West - changed my life completely. I let go - life is too short.
What is your life's legacy - what do you want to be known for? A loving, involved, and fun mommy who loves her kids, husband, and life in general - who worked HARD for the things she has, but never let a day go by where she didn't ENJOY who she was.
Is there anything you pretend to understand but don't? Hum.... I guess it would be how others can let their houses get so messy. Sorry guys I just don't get it?!?! I mean to each their own, but REALLY pick up a little here, little there - yeah I don't get it.
Worst Habit? I am a freak about dishes. After dinner I will get up and start cleaning up before everyone is done. Habit of mine that Eric and guests HATE. I don't know I just want it all picked up and THEN I can relax and enjoy.
Most attractive attribute? I am going with the fact that I am outgoing and basically you can throw me to the wolves and I will try and befriend them. I love awkward situations and trying to swim not sink. Put me out there and let me see what I can do? HA.
Relationship that means the most to you? God and Eric. Ha.. how are they both in the same sentence? BAH. I find this to be the triangle that keeps me grounded - myself, God, and Eric.

Alright the moment you have been waiting for... The winner of the "Mel's Favorite Things" box is
ANNIE K.
If you could email me at missmel_joy@yahoo.com then I will get you all hooked up and the box on it's way. If not, I have your email and will email you - CONGRATS girl and thanks for playing. YAY and thank you all who entered. It was a ton of fun. I will post this again on Monday - as I stated before but I got all antsy and couldn't wait. Kind of like how I tell everyone what their Christmas gifts are WELL before the day. LOL

Happy Weekend

Any favorite things I should know about? Do you love Stevie? What's your life's legacy?

Fact(s) Friday

Happy Friday - each time it is Friday I start thinking of Holly's Friday song from the "Friday's Favorite" Vlog. She kills me.

I wanted to thank everyone who signed up for the Give-A-Way - yay!!! I can't wait to share some of "my favorite things" with you and THANK YOU all again for hanging in there with me and following along. The winner will be announced on Monday morning when I link-up with Aly - Analyze This for "I Wore What?". I can't wait to share some of my fashion blunders. If you follow me on Instagram you saw a doosey yesterday. Hair trauma! and chokers are no joke. LOL

Oh.. one more thing, thanks Lindsay for the reminder on this - each day I email back everyone who comments on the posts - if you are not getting emails from me, it is because your account is set up as "no-reply". I didn't know this at first either and then Holly (check out here Shabby Apple $50 gift card give-a-way - AH..mazing) and Stephanie yelled at me and I changed my settings - now I am in email heaven. I love emailing and getting to know everyone - so please "Let me Love you". If you need instructions on how to change your settings click the link below.

The darling Lauren from Life As A Labeth awarded me the Liebster Award and I wanted to make sure I hit the questions she had asked, in addition to Stephs. I love reading her "So What Wednesdays" and her blog is down right real. She is working so hard right now in school to become a Social Worker - and I remember those days of downright sheer exhaustion while trying to tackle it all. Hang in there girl - you are going to make a wonderful social worker.

Lauren's Questions:

What is your guilty pleasure movie that you could watch 39840 times in a row?

The Wedding Singer, Detroit Rock City, The Doors (love me some Val Kilmer), High Fidelity, and Beauty & the Beast.

Did you have the names for your kids picked out before you even knew you were having them? If you don't have kids, do you have names already?

No we did not have them picked out. We picked them out when we found out the gender. Elle Rose our daughter - honestly no reason we loved both names. Wesley Charles our son - Charles is both of our Grandfather's names and we like Wes. We can see Wes Waterkotte on a football jersey. HA.. We are crazy I know...

What is your favorite holiday drink/snack?

Hey I don't just drink on Holidays - I am a year round kind-of-girl. But I host Thanksgiving for 30+ people, so I drink wine while I am in the kitchen. I can't get too tipsy or my bird may burn;) Christmas is at someone else's home so I drink Vodka/Tonics with lime and always have a coffee with Bailey's as a nightcap. Foodwise - I love these "mounds" my MIL makes (coconut things dipped in chocolate). I also love my mom's "lime-pin-ello". Yes we named it and haven't had it in awhile - it is this pistachio jello/coconut/pineapple/marshmallow/whip-cream HEAVEN!!! Mom.. you read this blog - we need STAT.

How addicted are you to Pinterest?

I used to be SUPER addicted but now I am on it once a week or so.

If you could be an animal for a day, what would you be?

Man.. I have no idea. I guess I would go with a dog. Sleep, eat, belly rubs, chase things, etc...

What is one irrational fear that you have?

Deathly afraid of snakes - I mean "pass out if I see one" style. I also am afraid of ANYTHING happening to my children. Here is a fear - the school bus. I can't send my kids on the school bus - I just can't. What happens on there - what if it went somewhere unfamiliar or dropped them off somewhere crazy? Yep. another reason we chose Private School.

What is your favorite blog to stalk read?

I have so many - I read a TON in a day. I do stalk SkinnyRunner and Run.Eat.Repeat. quite often (avid runners). I also love reading Analyze This and of course the adorable Holly at Where We Can Live Like Jack and Sally - I truthfully love every one's though.

Do you feel obligated to match your clothes all the time? Even pajamas?

He** to the NO. I rarely match. I love mixing colors and looking all color block funky. For real, I don't think I have matched my bra and underwear in 15 years (one thing E complains about - yet I still don't care)

If you could have any pet in the world without having to worry about safety or money issues, what

would you pick?
Puffin. I want one so bad. Those sweet little penguin puffers. I would snuggle and love it to pieces. I have often thought about stealing one from the St. Louis ZOO. Kidding.

What kind of books do you enjoy reading?

What I would like to call "Naughty Novels". I also read Celebrity Smut. I am also big into motivational books - one of my favorites is "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff". Life changer I tell you.

What is one thing you could never live without?

My mom... In my head she is immortal. She is going "no-where".
AND my kids - I don't know how I ever lived without them - they are my world.

BANG;)
That is my momma in the background - love you Luna.

Have A Great Weekend

Your fears? Do you match? Do you know what a Puffin is?

Wednesday Weigh In.. wait it's Thursday

I did weigh in yesterday but got all caught up in the POTM and Give-A-way fun that I forgot to post. There is still time to enter all the madness - check it out HERE.

So let me fill you in on my last week of TRYING to eat right and run/workout. Basically it goes like this - work keeps providing lunches to be brought in, people keep having b-day's, Halloween functions have begun, more people are having babies/weddings, Eric brought home Keebler cookies from the grocery store and ice cream sandwiches, bonfire smores keep occurring, everyone has Halloween candy sitting on their desk, an unheard amount of Sour Patch Kids lived happily in my home for 1 stinkin day, and I HAVE NO WILL POWER! For real - that is what it boils down to - ME and the slacking. I HAVE to get back on track. It is mind over matter and I guess I cannot grasp that concept lately.

So.. the scale went down 1 pound and I am OKAY with that - considering I really didn't do too much, except stop after 4 cookies and only eat 1 ice cream sandwich and only half of Elle's. I have upped my water (not really well though) and I started back running. I ran 4.5 miles on Sunday, 3 miles on Monday, 3 miles on Wednesday, and 3 miles this morning. I have one long run this weekend and I have to pick back up the strength training AND stop eating tons of sweets. I really credit the 1 pound loss to the running - there honestly could be NOTHING else it could be. Blah...

So here is to ANOTHER week and a better outlook/better mental state. I WILL lose these last 20 lbs DANGGIT - I WILL!!! See I just have to make healthy choices..

Oh I have to give a shot out to my girl Steph over at A Journey Back to Skinny - she nominated me for Liebster Award. Steph is real, adorable, and has the same daily struggles I do - I enjoy reading her posts and her adorable pics. I relate to her on many levels. She truly is a doll baby. Thanks for nominating me girlee.

Here are the questions Steph asked and my response(s):
  1. What made you start your blog? - I honestly started blogging as a way to track my life with my kids. I would love for them to have "something" when they are older that tracked the good/bad times. Stories to make them laugh, cry, and remember their mama. I am not crafty, don't keep books up well, so hey why not the Internet? The blog has morphed into so much more and I couldn't be more thrilled.
  2. Where is somewhere you would like to go but haven't had the opportunity? - Hawaii - when the kids are out of the house and college is all paid for and over... and Eric and I are walking around on walkers - we will go..
  3. Do you have a pet? If so what kind and what is his/her name? - Yes I do. Her name is Asti Marie and she is a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie). She is my first baby and I love her to pieces. She adores the kids and I could kiss her sweet face every second of the day.
  4. If you won the lottery what the first thing you would do? - Guys.. E has really rubbed off on me. I would pay off the kids college tuition in full, put money away for their weddings, make a great trust fund for them, then give a ton to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
  5. What is your occupation? - System Administrator for large HealthCare System in St. Louis, MO
  6. What is your favorite Halloween candy? - Kit Kat's, Whoppers, and Twix, shove them all in your mouth at once - HEAVEN!
  7. Have you ever broken a bone? - Nope... that might be why I am now married to a Safety Guy.
  8. Do you like to run? - Love it, Love it, Love it - best free therapy around.
  9. Growing up, what is your favorite tv show? - Fraggle Rock and Jem. Man I wish I could touch my earrings and my outfits would change instantly. I wanted to be her so bad when I grew up..
  10. What was the best present you have ever received? - besides my children my vacuum. I love to clean and this puppy makes me smile when I do so. Vrrrrrrrrrom..
  11. What makes you happy after a bad day? - Coming home to my sweet, rowdy, knuckleheads or if they are the one's making me have a bad day... A glass of wine followed by a 22oz Margarita - chased with a bag of Swedish Fish. Ahhh.. all better now.
Oh here is a picture of Asti Marie...I love her sweet face.

Almost the weekend peeps - almost...

How did your week weight loss go? Challenges at home? Challenges at work?
